Linda Kirby has been a practicing attorney in Wichita since 1988, serving hundreds of businesses owners and thousands of individuals and families with expert legal advice regarding their personal estates and their businesses.
Ms. Kirby attended Wichita State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics/English with a Minor in Economics; Wichita State University earning a Master’s Degree in Public Administration; Oklahoma City University earning her Juris Doctorate; cum laude; she was the Oklahoma Outstanding Property Student, student law clerk to Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. She attended New York University for post graduate Master’s course work in Tax Law.
Ms. Kirby was Professor of Law at the University of Richmond in Virginia teaching Income Tax, Tax Policy and Estate Planning. She taught Business Law at Newman University and Estate Administration at Wichita State University.
She has argued numerous cases in Kansas district courts, appellate court, and at all levels of federal courts including the United States Supreme Court regarding the income tax issue of whether punitive damages are taxable.
Ms. Kirby was Co-Founder of Kansas Health Ethics, Inc. a not-for-profit organization which began in 1992 to provide public education and resources to aid decision-making related to health care and end-of-life issues, including advance directives and living wills. She gave the 1992 address at the Annual Meeting of the Sedgwick County Bar Association and was awarded the Sedgwick County Bar Association’s Outstanding Service to the Bar Award for her work.
She is the author of The Executor’s Guide to Administration: How to Administer an Estate under a Will published in 2001 by Praeger and currently available at Amazon.com. She has taught Continuing Legal Education classes to attorneys and other professionals and “The Executor’s Training Course,” “The Perils and Pitfalls of Estate Planning,” “Business and Retirement Planning” classes to the general public.
She is an active member of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce, Wichita Independent Business Association, Wichita Estate Planning Council, Sedgwick County Bar Association, American Legion Post 136, the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard and a Member of Hillside Christian Church since 1988 where she currently serves as a Deacon.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
